According to Mr Bainimarama the projects are ad-hoc which are not budgeted or accounted for by the relevant line-ministries in their annual budget.

He said the scheme has directly benefitted 100,000 Fijians by assisting rural communities through funding small scale income generating projects, education assistance, water and electricity supply, village and settlement developments and improvements to sanitation of community facilities.

Mr Bainimarama said the scheme demonstrated Government’s commitment of leaving no one behind to ensure balanced growth and sustainable development.

He also noted that his office has reviewed the scheme guidelines and extended its scope to assist rural and disadvantaged communities.
