Bring on Suva, challenges Nasinu FA boss

- SIMIONE HARAVANUA SUVA Edited by Leone Cabenatabua

Giant killers Nasinu are confident of beating favourites Suva in their Courts Interdistrict Championship, group opener at the ANZ Stadium tomorrow. Speaking to SUNsports Nasinu Football Association president O’Neil Chand said they had the players who were going to dismantle the highly fancied-Suva side. They are Solomon Islands striker Marlon Tahioa, Joseph Mishra and midfielder Jasnit Vikash. Vikash was the Battle of the Giants top goal scorer.

Chand said these players can deliver the win for Nasinu.

“These boys have been playing consistently during the Vodafone Premiere League and they will lift their game against Suva on Tuesday,” he said.

“Jasnit’s award will boost his performance because he is a classy midfielder that creates goal scoring opportunities. He is our midfield general.

“Trust me they will come out firing against Suva and also for the rest of the tournament.”

Chand said Tahioa and Mishra love scoring goals with Vikash creating them the space to do so.

“Marlon has really set the standard of scoring goals in terms of his position as a striker,” he said.

“He is a talented kid that keeps growing in the game.

“The plan is to provide more balls to the strikers so they can score more goals.”

Chand added the players have been working hard during training as they have improved on their match fitness.

“It’s a positive sign to see the boys putting on that extra work during training,” he said.

“The players know that during the tournament they will have to stepup.

“It’s good to see that they have been practising their runs to avoid offside and creating opportunities for other players,” he added.

The match kicks off at 12.30pm.
