Timing of pass critical, says Serritslev
Coach happy with progress but still room for improvement
Vodafone Fijian football coach, Flemming Serritslev, is happy with team’s level of performance during the first day of the Courts Interdistrict Championships ( IDC).
With the upset wins from minnows Navua and Nasinu, he was impressed with the level of football displayed. “I watched four really interesting games and also saw the good level of athletes,” Serritslev said.
“I noticed those big surprises from Navua and Nasinu.
“Nasinu played very well against Suva and Navua was able to take the victory home against Labasa.” Serritslev added that the Ba versus Nadi and Rewa against Lautoka matches were played on a good level. He will closely monitor players who are currently in the national training squad and at the same time keep a look out for new talents as well.
“I’ll follow players normally who are in the camp and also take notice of other players who are progressing,” Serritslev said.
“Actually there is no doubt, the level of intensity has been raised here in the second part of the championship and also in the match that we saw on Tuesday.
“Still we have to work hard on the timing of the passes.
“It is the timing of the passes that decides the speed of the game, and the more correct we can pass, the higher speed we can have for the game,” he added.
Sertislev was at the Uprising Sports ground yesterday to watch all the Senior Division matches and to scout players fit for the national squad.
“I will watch all four games in the senior division and look for talents especially under-19 players.”
