More Fijians enjoy Fiji Airways Airbus A350-900 sunset flight
Children from the Treasure House Christian Children’s Home in Nadi were among 200 plus Fijians who took the opportunity to travel on a Fiji Airways Airbus A350-900 XWB yesterday.
This was Fiji Airways third special flight, this one the sunset flight, a first of its kind for Fijians. Travel was towards the south of Fiji and return to Nadi.
Fiji Airways Executive General Manager, Digital and Tourism, Akuila Batiweti said: “Following the success of the Travel Ready flight we had a lot of people asking us when the next one is.We got quite a bit of demand especially from Fijians all over and we had put this one out.
“It filled up very quickly. “Today’s flight we have over 200 passengers that have booked. “There was interest in some coming up to the airport and buying a ticket from here even.
“We chose the sunset flight. The last one we did was earlier in the day and we thought it would be a good opportunity for us to run something where people can actually see the sunset and this is the first flight out of the three that leaves late afternoon.”
Mr Batiweti added another interesting fact was that the company had received bookings from groups and corporates giving a treat to their staff either at the end of the year or going into the New Year
“We look forward to welcoming customers back when travel can resume safely,” he added.
He said it was a great opportunity for Fiji Airways to treat the 16 children from Treasure House Chistrian Children’s Home and two caregivers on the flight.
“We use this chance to give a bit of a treat to some of our friends to the Home in Nadi,” he added.
The home director, Ulamila Kaisau said it was a surprise to the children and an exciting one for them.
Mr Batiweti added Fiji Airways would definitely consider another special flight if there was demand.
