THE STALLIONS AIM TO WORK HARD THIS SEASON

- SEREANA SALALO SUVA

After a disappointing 2020 Skipper Cup competition Nadroga rugby will be looking to change things around this year.

The Stallions are adamant of displaying their trademark of running rugby in this year’s Skipper

Cup Premiership competition. However, technical advisor Franck Boivert said they had a huge task at hand if they had to keep their style of play.

Speaking SUNsports, Boivert said it is important to maintain the standards of rugby they played. “What we are working on is very important for the Nadroga rugby team and that is to retain our identity,” he said.

“As many know Nadroga has a style of rugby. We will try to keep that identity so that we can entertain the fans just like they deserve it.

“We are going to work hard in trying to retain our identity and the style of rugby that we play.”

Boivert plans to work on the player’s fitness once they get back to training. “The possibilities of trying to get fit I think the main thing for all the teams when training resumes is to try and play 80 minutes rugby,” he said.

“This season will be tough becsause other teams will come prepared. “Fitness will be a challenge but we will be working on that once we get back to training. It is going to be a very short preparation to get the players to play on match day.” “I believe Jiko (Matawalu) has given them their training programme so when they return we will give fitness tests to see where their fitness level sits.”

“We have seen how some teams gave us a hard time last season and we want to improve on that this time around.”
