Waqanicakau scores for Yalalevu
Striker Sanaila Waqanicakau scored in defending champions Yalalevu Football Club 1- 0 win over Nalovo FC yesterday.
The Ba football rep was spot on during the opening game of the Vodafone Regional Club Championship at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka.
His goal came in the 30th minute beating goalkeeper Vereti Dickson.
He well-timed a Malakai Tiwa header in the penalty box as Shivneel Singh launched a brilliant corner kick.
Yalalevu suffered a blow earlier in the match after Isimeli Vuniwaqa dislocated his shoulder.
The Ba side did not look back as the side is laced with Tiwa, Aisea Codro, Saula Matawai, Junior Singh and former Tavua goalkeeper Ravinesh Singh.
Nalovo had the services of Dickson, Napolioni Qasevakatini, Serevi Waqa, Ben Labatavatava, Josua Tawake, and Netani Kacanavesi.
Yalalevu coach Marshall Ali said: “The team played well and we thanked Nalovo FC for giving us a good show. We needed this win to set the pace but it is not the end we cannot relax.”
“We need to go back and set our plans for the next game and we know it is not going to be a easy one for us.”

“We need to fight and play untill the last whistle,” he said.
“The boys lacked concentration and gave the game away.”
“The team really needs to focus on the small things during the game, we had our moments but we did not take our chances because of lack of concentration in the game.”
