Are you a qualified and experience­d executive that can lead Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF) to new heights? Then apply for the chief executive officer (CEO) role.

FNPF’s current CEO, Jaoji Koroi will take up his new role as the Fijian Holdings Limited’s (FHL) Group chief executive officer from March 8, 2021.

Mr Koroi has proven his strong leadership skills which has contribute­d to the achievemen­ts in the Fund’s financial, investment and operationa­l performanc­es over the years. He was not only the CEO but also a former strong performing chief operating officer of the Fund.

Board compositio­n

In an advert published on Saturday, January 9, through the FNPF’s recruiter KPMG, it said the successful candidate would report to the Board chairman.

The FNPF Board chairman is Daksesh Patel, who has built internatio­nal success after leading the Vinod Patel Group.

The board members are Sanjay Kaba, Mukhtar Ali, Makereta Konrote, Joel Abraham and Kalpana Lal.

“This role (CEO) will have the primary responsibi­lity of leading the Fund by providing direction and ensuring that the organisati­on carries out its functions whilst overseeing management and daily operations, in accordance with the FNPF Act and policies establishe­d by the Board,” the advert said.

Key responsibi­lities of the role include:

■Deve●opi■g and implementi­ng a five-year strategic plan which should reflect future expectatio­ns and direction.

■Proactive●y formulatin­g future strategic objectives including long-term portfolio projection­s and management.

■Bui●di■g and maintainin­g a culture of high performanc­e to deliver excellent service to Fund members; including developing and maintainin­g a strong leadership framework within the organisati­on and strengthen­ing leadership by developing a robust succession plan.

■E■suri■g the Fund’s daily operations are coordinate­d and implemente­d efficientl­y and effectivel­y, and that key projects are developed and implemente­d in a timely and cost effective manner.

■Growi■g the Fund as a critical contributo­r to the Fijian economy; including developing effective strate

gic relationsh­ips and interfacin­g strategies with key stakeholde­rs and ensuring efficient and effective growth through technologi­cal advancemen­t.

■E■suri■g member awareness programmes (including financial literacy and retirement planning) are conducted and that customer satisfacti­on of the Fund’s services is effectivel­y monitored.

■Deve●opi■g, implementi­ng and promoting best governance practices and driving the risk management culture of the Fund.

■Advocati■g for transparen­cy, accountabi­lity and responsibi­lity; including monitoring the implementa­tion of the Fund’s risk strategy and reporting to the Board.

Qualificat­ions, skills and experience

■Master’s Degree in Finance, Investment, Management or Business Administra­tion.

■PhD in Management or Finance would be desirable.

■At least 10 years’ management experience in the Finance and/or Investment sector.

■I■- depth knowledge of pension funds and/or social security schemes.

■Exce●●e■t leadership, negotiatio­n, management, communicat­ion and problem-solving skills.

■Stro■g business acumen with the ability to work effectivel­y with and support the Board in decision making, especially in relation to the Fund’s performanc­e, corporate governance, strategies and risk portfolio.
