Lee wins President Cup

Profession­al Sam Lee claimed the Gecko Trucking/Vuksich & Borich sponsored President’s Cup 2020 that was played at Denarau Golf & Racquet Club on Saturday. The Nadi based profession­al shot 136 gross ahead of 2019 winner Zoheer Ahmad who shot 142 during the two-day event. Nadi businessma­n Abid Hussein shot 74 to claim the best gross amateur Men division whereas Tiri Naylor with 63 nett claimed Best Net Amateur Women prize.

Fiji PGA secretary Amitesh Chandra said, “The Presidents Cup was a successful tournament despite being postponed from the TC Yasa weekend. Good to see all our local golfers supporting the event.”

The event was a 36-holes stroke event for profession­als and 18 holes for the amateurs.

Other prizes: Best Net Amateur Men - Pradeep Singh (66) , Best Gross Amateur Women - Sunny Kim (70 Gross), A Grade Best Net Men - Dr Zen Low (69 Net), B Grade Best Net Men - Hermant Kumar (71 Net), C Grade Best Net Men - Young

Choi – (67 Net), First Net women - Sunita Kumar (66 Net).

Other dates: the DGRC will play host to the Andy Haden Memorial Golf Fun Day on January 23.

The Cardo’s Friday’s for Animals Fiji is on January 15, a single Stableford.

“We thank Cardo for his great support of our club and also Animals Fiji who do such great work. Competitor­s must have an official handicap to qualify for the prize,” DGRC manager Amithesh Chandra said.
