Raj Sisters fulfill Dreams of Parents
Family support was a key factor in their academic success.
Nothing beats family support!
For three sisters Nishita Raj, Shivanjani Raj and Natasha Raj, support from their parents helped them achieve excellent academic results.
The sisters committed themselves to their education with one thought at the back of their mind – to graduate and bring smiles to their parents, Ham and Nalini Raj. Nishita, a secondary school teacher, graduated from the Fiji National University (FNU) with a Post Graduate Diploma in Food Science and Technology. Shivanjani, employed at the Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji, graduated from the University of Fiji with a Post Graduate Diploma in Information Technology while Natasha, employed at the Ministry of Agriculture, graduated from FNU with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture.
Shivanjani, 25, said: “It was not an easy journey, but hard work and family support has finally paid off and brought pride to the entire Raj family, especially for both my parents.
“I also want to thank the Government for the Tertiary Education Loans Scheme (TELS), which helped us complete our education at the universities.”
She said it was a difficult journey for the family at the beginning because their father was the sole breadwinner.
Mr Raj, the operations supervisor at the South Pacific Fertilizer Limited, said it was a dream come true for the family.
“What we wanted our daughters to achieve, they have achieved much more than that. It is always a parent’s joy to see their children succeed.”
