Nathaniel ‘Hornet’ Singh for his first title fight. Singh will take on Ronald Naidu for the Super Lightweight title in the South Pacific Boxing Promotion at Prince Charles Park, Nadi on March 20. He remains undefeated with 19 amateur fights and 3 professional fights.

Naidu was supposed to fight Singh’s older brother Sebastian. However, the fight did not happen.

And the 21-year old aspiring doctor aims to continue his winning form.

“I fought three professional fights already, winning all three by knockouts and this is a big step up for me,” he said.

“I’ve moved seven weight divisions, I’m putting up 12kg for this fight and I’m looking forward to a wonderful outing. “Ronald Naidu is one of the best in the country. He was supposed to fight my brother, Sebastian a long time ago.

“That fight did not happen.”

Singh is on an international management contract.

“I’m looked after by promoter/coach Angelo Hyder who resides in Australia and I’m managed by Tony Tolj and Dragon Fire Boxing. “Pretty much all I do is train. I get paid to stay home and train.” is ready

Originally from Tailevu, Singh started boxing when he was four years old. “I grew up watching Joseph Kwadjo, Sebastian and have been learning from them.

“And now, pretty much I have surpassed them – my skill level, my strength, my stamina, my everything is beyond any Fiji boxers, I understand.

“This Fiji title is just a stepping stone. I do not want to be like any other Fijian boxers to just become a Fiji champion and then retire.

“I want the world to know me.

“I want to put Fiji Boxing on the map, just like rugby being recognised, I will make sure boxing is recognised,” he added.

Singh is a second year medical student at the Fiji National University - College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences.
