Evidence of negative COVID-19 test required in United Kingdom
All international arrivals to the United Kingdom, including UK nationals, are required to present a negative COVID-19 test taken up to 72 hours prior to departure, the British High Commission said in a statement.
This will be enforced for those arriving after 0400 UK time on January 18.
Although this requirement primarily relates to travellers arriving to England, Scotland have now introduced a similar requirement and we expect Northern and Wales to follow.
Passengers will be subject to an immediate fine of £500 (FJ$1386.15), if they fail to comply with the new regulations on pre-departure testing.
All passengers arriving from countries not on the Government’s Travel Corridor list will still be required to self-isolate for 10 days, regardless of test result.
Passengers will still be required to fill in a Passenger Locator Form and be subject to national lockdown
Ireland restrictions. Passengers arriving from all international destinations outside the Common Travel Area will be required to present a negative COVID-19 test result before departing for England to help protect against new strains of coronavirus circulating internationally.
Travellers are responsible for familiarising themselves with updated rules and must comply with them.
The test result must be in either English, French or Spanish.
Translations will not be accepted, and travellers must provide the original test result certificate. It must include the following information:
■ your name, which should match the name on your travel documents;
■ your date of birth or age;
■ the result of the test;
■ the date the test sample was collected or received by the test provider;
■ the name of the test provider and their contact details; and
■ the name of the test device.
If the test result does not include this information travellers may be denied boarding or entry to the UK. Children aged under 11 do not need to take a test and there are a small number of other exemptions from testing requirements.
Full details of these and all other requirements related to pre-departure testing are available on GOV. UK.
