The Raiwasa Resort Taveuni 7s side looking sharp and ready for the Super 7s Series next week. Yesterday, they were the in-form side in the first day of the Fiji Bitter Mokani 7s tournament held at the Ratu Ravuama Memorial School ground in Tailevu yesterday.

With defending champions Uluinakau Baabaas out of the tournament, the team from the Garden Island has set their sights on winning the two-day event.

“We’ve two goals to achieve here in Tailevu and they are very important to us as a team,” team manager Vula Vulakoro said.

“First we are here to build on our combinations and have some valuable game time before the Super 7s Series next week.”

“Little things like executing our game plan, passing, tackles and maintaining our discipline are key areas we are working on.

“It’s good to see the boys combining well. “A good sign for us is our fitness level is good and that we are consistent from where we left off last season.

“Playing in a tournament like the Super 7s Series, we need to be really fit to match the top teams in Fiji.

“So far the boys have played well and we are on track.

“Secondly we want to create history by winning the Mokani 7s.

“We understand that the defending champions Uluinakau Baabas are not here so we will take our chances.”

“Our aim is to finish top of our pool then we will take it from there.

“We are not going to take any team lightly because all the teams have prepared well for the tournament so I’ve reminded the boys to do the little things right.”
