Wonderful Wasawasa

WARM WELCOME FOR THE SPARKLING NEW PROPERTY ON ‘GO OVERSEAS TO SAVUSAVU’ LIST

- By Maraia Vula

The message is clear for those in Viti Levu: Come overseas to Savusavu. The success is clear too.

People are embracing the Hidden Paradise.

Thursday night the range of accommodation offerings grew with the soft opening of Namale’s impressive Wasawasa Lodge.

The Wasawasa Lodge is on the Hibiscus Highway about 10 minutes outside of Savusavu town. It sits on a hill overlooking the Koro Sea and surrounded by the Oneva Rainforest.

Operated as a separate 3-star entity, it is part of the Wasawasa Lodge, Inn, and Conference Centre.

A facility owned and operated by the nearby luxury Namale Resort and Spa.

They are all part of the investment in Savusavu by famed American motivational speaker and bestselling author Tony Robbins. The Wasawasa property had previously been used only for international conferences and events run by Mr Robbins.

His on-site co-general managers Bill and Nowdla Keefe have refurbished and developed it as Wasawasa Lodge and opened it to the public.

It is a welcome addition to the impressive Savusavu portfolio. Savusavu Tourism Association chairperson Delia Rothnie-Jones said.

“The location is fabulous and the reputation of the people behind it is excellent.

“So this is much to be welcomed. “Opening soon after TC Yasa is something very exciting. “Especially with Namale’s reputation and stature to be opening something like this is of great interest to anyone coming to Savusavu.

“It also presents more opportunities to come to Savusavu. “Obviously overseas tourism is not going to come back very soon so Come Overseas to Savusavu,” she said in an appeal to those in Viti Levu.

“We have a lot of places to see with a lot of activities and great places to eat.”

Special rates

Co-general manager Mrs Keefe said the opening of Wasawasa Lodge as an on-going hotel enterprise is part of Tourism Fiji’s Love Our Locals promotion.

She said: “We have special rates available and guests have the option of dining inclusive (breakfast and dinner) or room only rates. “We are hoping to host both the business traveller coming into Savusavu during the week as well as those casual travelers just looking for a weekend getaway
