Sabeto Mudpools A Natural Alternativ­e

Slopping around in Sabeto’s natural mud pit and the geothermal hot pools will leave you feeling like a million bucks. Even if it is just from all the therapeuti­c giggling you will be doing. The two different places you can go to at Nadi’s mud pools are side by side.

Only 30 minutes from Nadi on the same road to the Garden of the Sleeping Giants, the first mud is called Sabeto and the other is Tifajek.

The Hot Springs, also known as the Sabeto Mud Baths, are one of Fiji’s hidden jewels.

They provide a rare opportunit­y to indulge in a therapeuti­c natural spa.

About the mud pools

Hot spring water combines with volcanic ash to form a mud bath pool.

Mud baths have existed for thousands of years and are spas around the world,

Mud bath treatment is used to relieve arthritis.

To take full advantage of the therapeuti­c value of the mud pools, you first coat yourself in mud then stand in the sun until the mud dries on your body.

Wash off in the first natural hot spring pool, then walk over to the next clear water pool for another cleansing.

Vilisi Nasau, who spoke on behalf of both the properties, said business had slowed since the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the school holidays, local support poured in, for which the family-owned business was grateful.

“A dip in the mud pools is the best way to start your day,” she said. “We have regulars from the area who come as early as 6am for a dip. “It has helped me with my aches in my joints.”

The pools open 7am to 5pm.

Local rates are $5 per person.

Both have changing rooms with showers.

Towels can also be hired.

Local villagers offer soothing massages for $25.
