TNT Express group answer’s Devi’s cries after reading plight in Fiji Sun report
Justin Janvi Raj, 13, is now able to return to classes tomorrow. This was made possible when a group of ‘Good Samaritans’ at the TNT Express Outreach club provided uniforms, stationeries and shoes to the young girl, who begins her high school journey tomorrow.
She will be in Year Nine this year, attending Sila Central High School in Vuci Rd, Nausori.
On Friday, January 8, the Fiji Sun highlighted the plight of an unemployed single mother, Florence Devi, who was struggling to look after her sick mum and two daughters. In the article titled “Woman, Family Hopeful for Better Days” Ms
Devi was unsure of how she would send her daughter to school this year.
The TNT Express Outreach club came to their rescue.
An emotional Ms Devi said: “I am just so grateful. A burden has been put off my shoulders because I didn’t really know if I would be able to send her to school or not. “Last week, the club contacted us and they had bought two pairs of uniforms for my daughter, all her stationeries, books, bags and a new pair of sandals.
“My daughter is ready to get back to school and I would like to thank each and every one that had made this possible.”
A statement from the TNT Express Outreach club said the TNT
Express Management and staff members were glad to have helped young Janvi get back to school. “The club has been operational for over many years having the aim to reach out to the needy communities,” it said.
“Source of funds for the club is generated by employee’s weekly sacrifice and where TNT management equally contributes to support the club.
“It is our honour to help support these families and their children to go back to school. These students are our future leaders and we wish them all the success in all years to come.”
