Sigatoka Electric invested $80,000 to open its fifth branch. This one in Rakiraki. This investment not only will help the residents of Rakiraki but also create employment opportunities for those living between Rakiraki and Tavua. Sales and marketing manager Avin Nischal said this would be very convenient to the existing customers they already have in Rakiraki.

Before the shop opened, customers from Rakiraki and Tavua had to travel to Suva on Monday to the nearest branch.

Sigatoka Electric thought this would be fitting as they already had existing customers in the area while also hoping to expand their customer base.

Sigatoka Electric general manager Vijay Narayan said they had been planning this before COVID-19 hit Fiji.

Mr Narayan added that they were very fortunate to still be able to expand their business despite the pandemic.

He said at the stop the shop would focus on selling LED lighting, fans, and electricals.

Their focus for their Rakiraki customers is to provide a different variety of solar appliances.

They would also slowly expand to having their own electricians in store.

Furthermore, Mr Narayan made it clear that they have never been just profit driven and have always found ways to help the communities they do business in.

“We sponsor rugby, bowling, golf, soccer and hope that the local teams will reach out should they need it.

“Building relationships is more important to us than anything else as we believe that is where we get our blessings from.”
