-

Digicel Fiji had reached out to about 500 children, helping them with backto-school packs in the Tropical Cyclone Yasa affected communities in Vanua Levu.

Chief executive officer, Farid Mohammed, with his staff members visited up to six affected villages and communities and delivered school supplies including backpacks, pens, pencils, rulers, erasers and exercise books which were supplied by Star Printery Limited.

The Digicel team visited affected areas in Bua, Seaqaqa and Labasa – Korovuli village, Yalava settlement, Dama village, Tavulomo Village, Nasarawaqa Village and Namara Settlement.

Mr Mohammed said; “We are aware of the struggles of families in the affected communities to make ends meet and decided to step in and help some of them in sending their children back-to-school to continue the important development process of obtaining a good education. We hope our outreach will help families continue their efforts to rebuild and give the children renewed hope after the massive devastation caused by TC Yasa.”

“I was overwhelmed with the level of gratitude expressed by parents, children and elders of the villages and settlements we visited over two days, tells of how timely the donations have all been. We are happy that these children can go back to school just like other children with new school supplies and return to classes to continue their education journey.”
