The participants will be connected by Zoom, with the topic of the consultation being on “Education for Economic Growth: Remodelling Fiji’s National Development Plan post-COVID-19”.

Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Shaista Shameem said in the first roundtable consultation, participants recommended that there should be a revision of Fiji’s National Development Plan and Education Plans post COVID-19, which was why the university is holding second consultation.

On the scheduled agenda:

■ The Dean of the Umanand Prasad School of Medicine & Health Sciences Professor Fred Merchant will give an update on COVID-19.

■ Development Economist Sunil Kumar will talk on the ‘National Development Plan (five years and 20 years): Transforming Fiji’

■ The Dean of the JDP School of Law and Acting Vice Chancellor Professor Shameem will discuss education.

■ There will be a presentation of Roundtable Deliberations to the Plenary.

■ Open forum and resolutions on ‘Remodeling Fiji’s National Development Plan: the Education Mandate post-COVID-19’.

Professor Shameem said the university was very conscious of the need for its community to express itself on issues of national importance in education in the current climate where COVID-19 had taken over the world.
