Women can play in Fiji Open
Women golfers can now play in annual events like the annual Fiji Open. Golf Fiji executive Rohit Chandra said it would be now mandatory for the ladies to play alongside their male counterparts in events previously played only by men.
The item topped the discussion during Golf Fiji annual meeting at the Nadi Airport Golf Club last Sunday.
“For example at the Fiji Open which was played by only by men, will now be played by women as well,”Chandra said.
Golf Fiji has released the calendar for the year which includes the East vs West Championship to be played in May.
“We have to make sure to get all the golfers and draw up the event in the East. The Fiji Open will be held in Suva in September,” said Chandra.

Mark Hinton (vice-president).
Vidhya Lakhan remained as president alongside tournament director Rohit Chandra and athletes’ rep Ashish Chand.
Meanwhile, Team Babasiga Lions took out the Vuksich & Borich-sponsored Golf Fiji 4 person ambrose event on Sunday.
Nadi businessman Abid Hussain led the team alongside Sunita Kumar, Sharon Hussein, and Iqbal Khan who scored 59 points.
In second spot was Team Bomco (Jyoti Lal, Ravinesh Chaudhry, Christopher Daniel, Subash Chand) scored 60.25.
Team Farhaad Fisher (Salman Khan, Joe Runner, Freddie and Melvin) scored 61.625 to finish in third sport.
Team New Delhi Electrical led by Rohit Chandra, Ashish Chand, Pradeep Chandra and Ba lawyer Niven Padarath finished fourth (61.75). Chandra said 45 golfers took part.
