The former Lautoka City Council chief executive officer Jone Nakauvadra was a man of a few words, but impressive work ethics and actions. These were the sentiments shared by Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations Parveen Bala at Mr Nakauvadra’s funeral service on Wednesday. Mr Bala said he had the privilege of working closely with Mr Nakauvadra for over seven years.

He said as a former Special Administrator of the Lautoka City Council he was always impressed with the way Mr Nakauvadra carried out his work.

“He had first joined Lautoka City Council when I was the Special Ad

ministrator in 2011 and he served the Lautoka City Council as chief executive officer for the past nine years,” Mr Bala said.

“Jone worked with me when I became his line Minister for Local Government.

“One of the things I remember about Jone was the wealth and great source of information he held when he came to Lautoka and

that reflected the many people he interacted with.”

Mr Bala said Mr Nakauvadra was a dedicated administrator and was committed to his work.

“He worked very hard for his rate payers,” Mr Bala said.

“During his term there was not so much noise that we hear now about market vendors. He was also dedicated to his staff at the Lautoka City Council.

“He was a man of the people and he was so approachable.

“He was proud of his work and his family.”

Mourners bid their final farewell to Mr Nakauvadra at the Namena Methodist Church in Tailevu.
