RIBBON CUTTING
Last week in Parliament, National Federation Party Leader Biman Prasad questioned the supposed cutting of blue ribbons at events attended by Government ministers and the Prime Minister.
Perhaps the learned MP does not realise that it is not merely a ribbon cutting exercise, rather it signifies rural development, a celebration of providing much-needed access to communities which have been left on the periphery for far too long by past governments.
MONITOR CHILDREN’S PHONES
Adults should monitor children’s use of phones and electronic devices or have safeguards to protect children from accessing sites not meant for them.
During a conversation with his eight-year-old nephew, a man discovered that a child in his nephew’s class had watched an adult video while using his parent’s phone.
He told the class of what he saw and the conversation took place with boys and girls involved.
Adults please be advised that the internet and phones are not child minders.
JOINING THE PARTY?
Tui Namosi Ratu Suliano Matanitobua has denied any involvement with Sitiveni Rabuka’s proposed new party, People’s Alliance.
Fiji Sun questioned him and his answer was, “no it’s not true.” This was after he was seen with a delegation who were collecting signatures for Mr Rabuka’s proposed new party in Namosi. Only time will tell who’s telling the truth here.
LOOSE CIGARETTES
A shopkeeper is complaining about the drop in cigarette sales.
He suspects that workers from a nearby tax free zone have taken up a side hustle of selling loose rolls to his customers.
BTL wonders if the shopkeeper, who is complaining, is aware that selling loose cigarettes is illegal.
DRIVER’S WRATH
Two female drivers got into it in Labasa after one of them (let’s call her driver #1) took the law into her own hands to teach another driver (let’s call her driver #2) a lesson.
Driver #2 gave the wrong signal before taking a turn on the road.
Driver #1 was driving behind her, with a toddler.
Due to the wrong signal, driver #1 tried to save her car from an accident, which ended up with the toddler falling and hitting the dashboard and suffering a head injury.
Driver #1 was so furious that she stepped out of her car and slapped other driver. The matter was settled before the Police as both would have faced the full brunt of the law.
