The CIRCLE of Success
What is the ‘CIRCLE’! In pursuit of excellence, the concept of ‘CIRCLE’ plays a very critical role.
In the present scenario of business where competition is tough and challenging, leadership and managerial effectiveness is expected to be different and dynamic.
And in order for it to be dynamic and different every aspirational leader, who is passionate about achieving his or her goals must awaken the ‘CIRCLE’
What makes the Circle?
Basically, the circle is a simple connectivity of six highly practical and developmental Values or Qualities that need to be awakened within the aspirational leader.
And these are as stated below:
Showing or giving respect in such ways especially through spoken words or positive actions not only helps in creating a positive Team Spirit but also acts as a genuine catalyst for motivation and enthusiasm.
Conviction
In order to be a successful leader, the role of conviction is extremely fundamental.
At the very base of a leader’s thought process must be his conviction which could also be described as his or her Depth of Belief. Actions or expressions without a clear treason or purpose behind can trigger a spate of subdued sequence of events.
Every decision in fact should be scrutinised through the prism of Inner Conviction of that leader or manager.
The context of ‘conviction’ revolves primarily around three most important questions and these are:Why are we going to do this!
Is this the right things to do!
Am I prepared to deal with the outcome whether positive or negative! Such questions that can surely make you qualify your depth of belief or conviction behind initiating or undertaking that particular decision and the subsequent activity.
Innovation
Another aspect of the CIRCLE is the ‘I’ of the Circle, and this is the role of innovation and creativity. As discussed in the earlier column on this topic, Innovation is one of the strongest necessities especially for an aspirational leader. Innovation is extremely important because todays businesses need to be different and creative in the way they make and market their products and services and also by the manner in which they service their clients.
Thinking out of the box is an essential need and therefore the leader or manager must make efforts not only to become innovative but also encourage his other team members to do the same.
Collective innovations as a concept not only has become extremely vital to an organisation’s growth but also important to the growth of every employee.
Respect
At the core, ‘respect’ fundamentally reflects the sincere efforts made by an individual towards acknowledging or appreciating the efforts or results of an action executed by his colleagues, juniors or seniors especially within the corporate environment as well the personal and social spheres of life!
It is important to note that our attitude towards recognising other’s efforts is the true reflection of our respect for them.
Showing or giving respect in such ways especially through spoken words or positive actions not only helps in creating a positive Team Spirit but also acts as a genuine catalyst for motivation and enthusiasm.
Also, interesting to understand is that offering guidance to colleagues and sharing ‘Constructive Criticism’ is an integral aspect of respect which we must do as and when the situation demands.
Courage
The strength of character to be fearless while making as well as executing critical decisions is an important reflection of the attitude of courage.
But having said this, courage also can be seen in the way an individual deal with failure or with crisis. Without buckling down and giving in to de-motivation or stress, the way by which he or she rises to the challenge with a positive spirit and conviction is the real presentation of courage.
An aspirational leader must awaken or strengthen this aspect of his/ her personality in the pursuit of his individual and team goals.
Learning
Albeit a very simple word, it still carries a great deal of value. That’s because the process of learning not only helps in adding knowledge but also acts as a confidence booster! What must be remembered is that learning should be a continuous process, done through various ways.
Reading is a powerful way of increasing knowledge but apart from this even personal interactions and constructive discussions with people of great experience and expertise will also help.
Energy
In the present times, life as a whole has become hectic. People are multi-tasking and the burden of varied responsibilities along with the daily pressures of targets has led to the increase of fatigue and tiredness along with the aspect of stress.
And therefore, rejuvenating our energy levels is of urgent need. Energy is our attitude of feeling high levels of self-motivation.
It is therefore important that we undertake certain activities than can act as energy boosters.
And these are, reading books especially those which are biographies or autobiographies on other people who have achieved success and battled challenges.
