Fiji Sun is now a media partner for the Top Executive (TOPEX) conference. Made possible after the TOPEX governing and organising body, Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation (FCEF) and Fiji Sun signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) yesterday.

Speaking to SunBiz, FCEF chief executive officer Kameli Batiweti said: “We thank the Fiji Sun for agreeing to come on board with us.

“It is always important to have this sort of partnership with the media to ensure that the messages we want to portray is portrayed in the newspapers.”

Fiji Sun Publisher/CEO Peter Lomas said: “The Fiji Sun leads not just Fiji but also the region in coverage of business and economy. “Our flagship Saturday Sunbiz Liftout is a must read in the C Suite.

“So supporting Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation as a media partner for TOPEX is a no brainer. Kameli Batiweti and his team deserve applause and support. They are resetting business back to normal with TOPEX 2021 despite all the recent challenges.

“There is optimism in the air. The latest ANZ Fiji country report out today underscores this. TOPEX 2021 symbolises this. It deserves strong support.”

What to expect?

The conference scheduled for May 28 to 29 will be held at Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa on Denarau Island, Nadi.

With the theme Resilient Business Ready for Tomorrow, 2030, #TOPEX Speaks’, the event will provide TOPEX participants the networking opportunity with other executive and professionals.

Mr Batiweti highlighted that this year’s TOPEX will consist of constructive dialogue exchange.

He said: “The first session will involve discussions on the domestic economy and world economy.

“We will conclude our programme with discussion on tourism specifically with regards to the borders reopening and its impacts.” He also added there would also be a presentation on the international trends in tourism. There are a couple of island countries who have opened their borders to tourism so some of the learning we can take from these specific

island countries will be discussed,” he said.

He said this was important because businesses were heavily dependent on tourism.

Targeted number

“We are targeting 200 participants and so far, the number of participants who have confirmed is quite significant.

“We are encouraging others who are still double-minded to register quickly as limited resort rooms are available.”

Registrations for the TOPEX close on April 30. conference
