US Embassy Awards $13k Grant to Promote Anti-Corruption
The Embassy of the United States of America in Suva awarded a grant of $13,380 to the Civic Leaders for Clean Transaction PTE Ltd (CLCT) Integrity Fiji yesterday.
The grant would enable the organisation to produce creative videos and other art forms to spread the message of integrity, anti-corruption, transparency, and accountability to the Fijian public through social media and mainstream media. The grant was signed by the U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Tony Greubel.
Mr Greubel said such efforts would mobilise youth against corruption and promote good governance. “Around the world corruption stops economic growth, destabilises governments, undermines democracy and provides avenues for dangerous groups such as criminals, traffickers and terrorists,” he said. “The USA Department of State and USA Government have made anti-corruption a national security priority.”
Integrity Fiji board chairman Jofiliti Saubuli said they would host training to teach youth advanced elements of filmmaking, photography and other expressive art forms. He said the youth would then collaborate in the production of videos, images and other media that could be used on social media to spread the word about the importance of integrity in all facets of life.
CLCT Integrity Fiji is a non-government organisation that promotes a culture of anti-corruption and good governance. Integrity Fiji is an affiliate of Transparency International.
