Justice Daniel Goundar yesterday, ruled that it was not in the interest of justice to release the accused on bail, in considerat­ion of the public interest and protection of the communi-ty and that the family members of the accused had attempted to interfere with one of the complainan­ts.

Court alleged to in have raped a 12-year-old girl and assaulted his de facto partner and her five-year-old son. The incidents allegedly took place on July 21, 2018 at Navua.

In the second case, the accused is charged with assault causing actual bodily harm, criminal intimidati­on, indecent assault, abducting with intent to confine a person, wrongful confinemen­t, aggravated robbery, and aggravated burglary.

The complainan­ts in the matter are the accused’s 30-year-old de facto partner and her five-year-old son. The alleged incidents took place on February 16, this year.

The 43-year-old businessma­n and two others allegedly and wrongfully confined the 30-year-old woman and her five-year-old child. It is also alleged that the accused threatened to harm the child with a knife and caused alarm to the woman.

On the same day, the businessma­n is alleged to have indecently assaulted the 30-year-old woman. It is also alleged that the accused and two others entered the woman’s house and stole assorted items valued at over $5000.
