Western Hash Harriers Tour Levuka
Members of the Nadi, Malolo, and Hospital Hash House Harriers (HHH) went on a ‘go local’ tourism tour of Ovalau, Levuka during the Easter weekend. Hash grand master, Ram Raju and Nadi lawyer, Babu Singh, led a team of 20 members joined by friends of hash at the Vodafone ATH Fiji Foundation including its executive Ambalika Devi and a few volunteers.
The group made their way from Nadi and stopped at the Sai Prema Children’s Hospital in Suva.
The group had a hash run at the outskirts of Vuci in Nausori before leaving for Levuka via ferry on Saturday.
Mr Raju said the event was a success.
“Close to 25 members made it a memorable event where we launched our historical Levuka tour banner,” he said.
Ms Devi said: “I went to do consultations and community visit using team connections because Levuka was our untouched area. Life is not beautiful. We make life beautiful. Life is not hell. We make life heaven.”
Nadi-based businessman Naman Naidu said: Levuka was: “Definitely, a place to visit unless you’re not adventurous. Not many high-class hotels like Viti Levu but not bad either. Now my plan is to move to Levuka after retirement. Very friendly people and the environment is just amazing.
“Old buildings built in the 1800s are still standing. If Levuka gets more support, I’m sure there won’t be a place like Levuka in Fiji,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mr Raju also launched the tour last month in Ba and Tavua. He said there would be a monthly event in different locations in Ba and Tavua because there were many exotic and attractive locations to discover.
