America’s bullying tactics

Politically motivated and one sided and it is very disrespectful indeed, but who is America to teach Fiji about how or whether to comply with good international best practice relevant to the UN Human Rights Charter and conventions to which we are a signatory. The USA is one of the biggest known culprits of human rights abuse in the world.

Racism against coloured US citizens of Asian, Indian descent including any black person living in America is very high on the agenda and it is very shameful a cardinal sin that still exists today.

Their inability to consult with the Fiji Sun, our other mainstream newspaper, instead of the anti-government activists biased with very dirty politics, but how can Greubel allow such to happen under his watch.

It is very disappointing and disturbing to note that through the American Embassy here in Suva the Charge d’Affaires Tony Greubel had approved a report on our country’s Human Rights for 2020 without engaging in obtaining the views of our Government and the Fiji Human Rights Commissions Director for that matter.

I would suggest Greubel to go to Syria, Uganda, North Korea, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Russia to name a few countries where he could go to teach them a thing or two on Human Rights best practice.

Do you think they will listen to you Americans?

His approval of the controversial report is one sided, unwarranted and irresponsible to say the least and is damaging to our Government’s desire to progressively move forward and recover from this COVID-19 pandemic. He now wishes to engage with Government after the release.

I would like to call upon the Director of the Fiji Immigration Department to please check if he has complied with his work permit conditions.

Fiji has done that many times in the past and they must respect our sovereignty.
