Take Electronics Engineering as a career option
Pursuant to the Accident Compensation (School Accidents) Regulations 2018, if the controlling authority of a school fails to report any personal injury or death without reasonable cause, then the Permanent Secretary responsible for Education or an authorised officer must issue the controlling authority of the school a demand notice to provide documents or information on the issue.
If the demand notice is not complied with then the controlling authority of the school commits an offence and is liable on conviction to pay a fine not exceeding $10,000.
Additionally, a Fixed Penalty of a $1,000 may be imposed on the controlling authority of the school.
Those interested in engineering are already aware of the various segments of engineering and one of those is electronics engineering.
It may not be the most lucrative career option, but it does require a certain level of knowledge and skills to become an electronic engineer.
It is obviously not just anyone’s cup of tea, but if you have the right skills, you can surely consider it as a career option.
Electrical and electronics engineers work at the forefront of practical technology, improving the devices and systems we use every day.
From solar-energy systems to mobile phones, they innovate to meet society’s communication, technological and energy needs.
Electricity is integral to modern life - power generation, transport, medicine, quantum information, computing, artificial intelligence, cryptography, communications, the list is endless.
So, what distinguishes electrical engineering from electronics? Put simply, electrical engineers deal with the supply and flow of power; electronics engineers create the electronic devices we use every day.
Some might think this is a career option only for men, however, there is nothing stopping women from becoming electronics engineers.
We will look at the Electronics Engineering programme offered at the Fiji National University (FNU) extensively this week and the steps you can take to pursue this career path.
We also look at the common jobs in the Electronics Engineering industry in Fiji.
