The Viti Water Flow Lautoka football team have taken the lead on the Digicel Premier League points table. This was after striker Sairusi Nalaubu scored in their 1-0 win over the Unique Rubber Stamp Suva side at Churchill Park, Lautoka, yesterday.

What happened: The hosts started strongly as Suva took time to adapt to the scorching heat. Continuous pressure by the Blues saw the Suva defence buckled.

In the 30th minute Nalaubu made no mistake with his attempt as they took an early lead.

Suva tried hard to score the equaliser but Lautoka goalkeeper Beniamino Mateinaqara pulled off a few spectacular saves.

Halftime: Lautoka 1-0 Suva.

Suva dominated play as they pressured the Lautoka defence but Mateinaqara blocked their attempts.

Comment: Lautoka coach Imdad Ali said: “I knew that Suva was going to come out strong. I also knew the pattern of play they would be playing. So we played good defensive football and were able to contain them.”
