The Westin Denarau Island Resort and Spa will hold the firstof-its-kind Ultimate Chef Cook Off on Friday, April 23, showcasing five talented chefs who will battle to show off their skills and technique. The chefs will take guests on a culinary adventure full of unique flavors. “This is a unique event to celebrate and recognise the enormous talents at our properties that each of the chefs have managed to perfect and master over the years,” said Neeraj Chadha - Multi Property Vice President Fiji and Samoa and General Manager Westin and Sheraton Resorts, Fiji. Guests will enjoy, rate and judge a five course creation.

Each chef will pair his dish with premium wines for an gastronomi­cal experience.

Chef Rakesh Kumar

A self-taught chef mastering techniques over many years, chef Rakesh presents a unique blend of creative flair and a passion for food.

He became a chef because of his love for food and brings over 15 years of culinary expertise throughout five star hotel environmen­t.

His knowledge and dedication in culinary has led to crafting the best cuisines for an enhanced dining experience.

The Fiji Chef has delivered award winning fine dining experience­s not only in Fiji but Australia.

He is passionate about sustainabi­lity and locally sourcing ingredient­s, specializi­ng in Asian, Indian, Western and Seafood cuisine.

Chef Akshay Kumar

Chef Akshay’s tantalizin­g culinary journey spans across a number of five star luxury properties not only in Fiji, but the neighborin­g South Pacific. The young chef from Ba comes with a drive to constantly strive for more transformi­ng the shape of fusion cuisine in Fiji with the skills he mastered throughout his career.

Inspired by celebrity chef Peter Kuruvita and passionate for cooking since a young age, chef Akshay’s speciality spreads across Italian to Sri Lankan cuisine.

Chef Onkar Singh

Chef Onkar Singh is originally from New Delhi, India.

Having discovered his passion for cooking at a young age, he explored this curiosity by furthering his studies in Punjab.

He began his profession­al culinary journey with five star hotels has been part of renown hospitalit­y brands including in India and Costa Rica before moving to Fiji.

Chef Onkar expertly crafts authentic Indian dishes so that they retain their charm but also have a touch of Fiji.

Chef Monish Chand

Chef Monish brings many years of culinary expertise to the kitchen of the five Marriott Bonvoy Hotels and Resorts in Fiji.

Chef Monish is constantly inspired by the people around him and over the years this has helped him refine his culinary techniques.

Together with his passion for food creations, his motto is to live by dreaming big and putting innovative ideas to the plate for the world to taste. Chef Monish’s path to gastronomy was inspired by his mother.

With a flair for exquisite design, he specialise­s in Asian and Indian cuisine.

Chef Vineet Narayan

Specialisi­ng in Asian and Indian Cuisine, chef Vineet stresses on the importance of using freshest locally sourced ingredient­s in every dish and delighting guests with his gastronomi­c specialtie­s.

Chef Vineet made his culinary debut with a Western fusion restaurant some 14 years ago and has since moved away from a traditiona­l cooking approach towards a more innovative style of cooking combining regional flavors and bringing the best.
