Brothers Bobby and Irish Khan hold the Masjid Hanifa mosque close to their hearts as it is named after their late mother Hanifa Begum.

As managing director of Mega Hardware and Mega Supermarket in Sigatoka, Irish Khan said the completion could not have come at a better time than before the beginning of Ramadan.

“When Bobby mentioned to me about the project, I never hesitated and put my company’s resources forward to make sure that the mosque is something our beloved mother would be proud of,” Mr Khan said.

“I am sure she is smiling down on us, her children and our families at this magnificent structure and her name will live on,” he said. Mr Khan said the location of the mosque, along side the Queen’s Highway at Sonaisali just outside Nadi was perfect.

“I know there will be a lot of travellers who will call in for prayers at the mosque and also to break their fast if they are passing by at that time.

“Bobby has been instrumental in this project and we agreed to this unique design to give the mosque a look apart from other mosques.

“We have had a lot of positive feedback from members of the public and we encourage anyone

who wants to call in to pray to do so.

“This is especially for women who now have their own prayer room so ideally it will be good for couples travelling to both do their prayers at the same time,” Mr Khan said.
