Director of Super Drug Pharmacy Abhay Nand has called on private sectors to assist Government with improving its health care system. Mr Nand made this call while handing over 10 wheelchairs and face masks to the Minister for Health and Medical Services Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete on Thursday. “We need to understand that the

health system cannot be controlled by the Government alone, we need to assist them as the private sector,” Mr Nand said.

“Corporate and business houses need to step forward and help, no healthcare system is perfect and that is why we decided to give wheelchairs and face masks to the Government to improve its services in that aspect.”

He said while in Australia during the lockdown period, he saw how the private sector had greatly assisted Government hospitals there. “The health system too was at its neck there because of the pandemic, and the private sector assisted them in ways they could.”

He said they would not put a value to what was donated towards the health care system on Thursday. One wheelchair was also donated to the Nabua Police Station to assist with transporting people who needed it during court proceedings.

“We have been in the business for more than 40 years as one of the oldest pharmacies in the country. “We spent a lot of years in Nabua and recently Nabua has been in the news for many wrong reasons, so we thought we might get some good news for Nabua.”

Minister Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete while receiving the items thanked the Management and staff of the pharmacy for their support. He said the Ministry looked forward to their continuous support in improving the health care system in the future.
