Leadership and Digital Transformation Talk at TOPEX

Mr Bahnassi is the Employment Specialist for the International Labour Organisation (ILO) Office for Pacific Island Countries (PICs), based in Suva, Fiji.
He has substantive international technical and policy-making experience, having spent
the majority of his career working for UN organisations, supporting governments and private sector across varying roles within policy formulation, advisory, research, innovation, management and academic teaching.
Before his appointment in Fiji, he served as the ILO Chief Technical Adviser on Inclusive Labour Market for Job Creation in Georgia.
Before that, he worked as the ILO Chief Technical Adviser on Innovations in Labour Market Governance in Dubai; Specialist on Labour Market Information for Migration Policy in Bangkok and ILO Bangladesh.
Prior to joining the ILO, Mr Bahnassi worked as a specialist on jobs, livelihoods and inclusive growth; and Director of Labour Market Observatory at UNDP.
He also held various positions and consultancy assignments in UNDP Bangladesh, Yemen, Algeria, Syria and Assistant Professor/Lecturer in multiple universities (USA, UK, and UAE).
He holds degrees from University College London (UCL) in the UK, and Northeastern University in Boston, US.
Leadership
Ms Chand will speak on leadership towards 2030.
“My presentation with share experiences during these uncertain times and how our experiences will shape the way we work towards 2030.
“I will also give insights of a recent global survey launched by KPMG of 500 CEOs from the world’s most influential companies proving their outlook on the economic and business landscape and ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
“I will also focus on how business leaders in Fiji were forced to have a change in mindset starting from our first lockdown as business disruption and rapid economic change continues to evolve.
“The role we play in our communities is something I am very passionate about and a core value of who we are at KPMG.
I will share our ponsibility Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives that we carried out in Nadi and the wider community.
“Finally, I will make some broad observations on how we as business leaders can promote serious diversification in our economy which will bring out sustainability and moving into the right direction by 2030!”
About Ms Chand
Ms Chand is the Nadi Partner for Tax, Transactions and Accounting (TTA) for KPMG Fiji
Practice.
Ms Chand is a Fellow Chartered Accountant member of the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.
Her advancement to Fellow was awarded for her substantial contribution to the accounting profession and the community.
She is the first member from Fiji to have received this award.
Ms Chand also holds a Certificate of Public Practice and is a Chartered Accountant member of the Fiji Institute of Accountants. She has 30 years of chartered accounting experience, six years of which were gained in New Zealand.
Ms Chand is a past Council member/President and Treasurer of the Fiji Institute of Accountants.Ms Chand is also the National IT Security Officer and Privacy Liaison Officer for KPMG Fiji.
She is proud to have been educated locally and is an alumni of the University of the South Pacific. She strongly believes in local talent and capabilities and is closely involved in mentoring and developing graduate accountants.
She is a strong advocate of equal opportunities for women and diversity in the workplace.
She is a board member for St Christopher’s Home and the Moana St Clare Boys Home where she pursues her passion for the safety and well-being of our children.
In her spare time, Renu is actively involved in community projects and enjoys family time with her three adult daughters, farm life and lots of competitive fishing with her husband.
