▶ RESIGN: TABUYA TELLS GAVOKA, RATU EPENISA
Opposition whip and Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) member Lynda Tabuya has called on party president Ratu Epenisa Cakobau and party leader Viliame Gavoka to resign.
Ms Tabuya made these comments while responding to a statement issued by Ratu Epenisa yesterday.
Ratu Epenisa said Ms Tabuya’s misguided attempts at trying to discredit the Party executive’s showed her inadequacies as a self-promoted representative for Kadavu.
He said she should stop rambling like a loose cannon. Ms Tabuya said Ratu Epenisa was a novice in politics and is being used by those flanking him for their own personal agenda. “I have much respect for him as a traditional leader and I call for his resignation as he has not been able to unite the party for almost a year now, and he has not been able to resolve the many grievances before him, but has acted on ill advice designed to drive out voters rather than unite us,” she said.
“The president should be neutral, but since he took up his position, there are over 70 grievances before him to sort out. This is unprecedented.”
She claimed that under the Ratu
Epenisa’s leadership, Mr Gavoka as the leader has failed to deliver a plan in the last five months. “I call for the party leader’s resignation and I call on the deputy party leader Filimoni Vosarogo to step up and become the party leader.
“We need a young, dynamic, intelligent leader to capture the 60 per cent voting population.”
“I am very disappointed that the deputy party leader has been excluded from major decision making, he has not been invited to the management board meetings, and he has been replaced as chair of the manifesto committee who met this week to map out the direction of the party.”
