Fiji Beachouse For Paul Evers

- SUSANA HIRST-TUILAU RAKIRAKI susana.tuilau@fijisun.com.fj

Paul Evers is the country manager for H. G. Leach and Co Ltd in Fiji. It is a New Zealand based company that manages Naboro Landfill, Suva’s main waste management site.

Mr Evers came to Fiji in 2004 with his family.

He is one of Fiji’s first commercial teak farmers, with farms in Rakiraki.

“I came to Fiji because my wife’s family lives here,” Mr Evers said.

“They are the owners of Five Princes Hotel in Suva.”

After several years of his involvement with the environment and forestry industry, a friend of Mr Evers asked about his interest in taking the job at the Naboro Landfill.

Although he does not travel much these days, and with his family abroad, Mr Evers prefers Fiji to anywhere else.

What’s one place you’d take every visitor to in Fiji, and why?

The Fiji Beachouse on the Coral Coast. It is one of the few places where you get a good mix of the kailomas, i-Taukeis and kaivalagis. Everyone is laid back there, and a great place to relax.

What’s your secret backyard spot?

My deck.

It is a peaceful place to clear my head.

What’s your favourite place in Fiji for a pie/ coffee?

Governors Cafe.

It has the best coffee and service.

It is not too crowded, and just tucked away in this relaxing and peaceful setting.

What’s one bucket list?

favourite

Fiji spot at the top of your

The caves in Ra.

I know just off Mataso coast there is a cave there.

It is about five kilometres long to the other end.

Also, it is said that many years ago the cave was a burial site.

It has a lot of history that is yet to be told.
