Do Not Fear, Take the Jab, Reverend Vulaono Tells Congregation, Public
The General Superintendent of the New Methodist Christian Fellowship Reverend Atunaisa Vulaono has urged Fijians not to be swayed by misinformation using religious ideologies that are discouraging people from taking the COVID-19 vaccine.
Reverend Vulaono was speaking in a virtual panel discussion called ‘Tarogi Talatala’ on Thursday night on the ‘Bula Ko Lau’ Facebook page.
The panel discussion was organised by the page administrators and moderated by journalist Samisoni Pareti.
The discussion was part of a series of discussions aired live on the page that could help Fijians make informed choices on the COVID-19 virus and the vaccine.
“My family and I have been vaccinated, and we are just days away from getting our second jab,” he said.
“We have senior pastors that are medical doctors, and it is important to note that the work of doctors is well stipulated in the Bible both in the Old Testament and the New Testament.
“In the Bible Jesus said it was not the healthy that need the doctor, but the sick. It is clear that people have been given the wisdom and knowledge
from God to be doctors.
“For example, I will pray about my health, but the doctor will tell me what diet I am supposed to take because of my condition.
“God has instilled knowledge and wisdom to our medical professionals
to be his hands on earth.”
He said church members have been encouraged to get vaccinated but the choice was theirs.
“The choice is theirs; it’s like inviting a person to give their life to the Lord, and we do not force anyone. We only show and preach the way to salvation, but the choice is on you. I encourage members of the public not to fear.”
