Obedience is better tHAn sACrIfiCE
When are we ever going to understand that obedience is better than sacrifice? It is way better to adhere to the Ministry of Health and Medical Services COVID-safe protocols.
And we will just highlight these instructions here again for those who have short term memories or suffer from some sort of memory lapse:
■ Stay at home as much as possible.
■ If you must leave your home: Wear a mask
■ Keep at least two metres between yourselves and others outside your household,
■ Frequently wash your hands with soap and water, or an alcohol-based hand sanitiser.
■ Download the careFIJI app and keep the Bluetooth on.
■ Behave as if anyone you encounter outside your home may have the virus
■ DON’T ATTEND SOCIAL GATHERINGS
■ Don’t drink grog with anyone outside your household.
■ Don’t invite anyone home.
■ And please get vaccinated.
With these clear and simple instructions written out, aired out, announced and even interpreted for those who are hearing impaired – it’s still not getting through.
The announcement on Wednesday night about the birthday party that took place in Lautoka despite these repeated reminders on radio, TV, newspaper, social media and everything else in between – it’s clear that the message, despite its clarity – keeps falling on deaf ears.
What’s also clear is that when we don’t adhere to COVID-safe protocols, we can all easily become the next new COVID-19 cluster.
Regret, remorse and a deep reflection of one’s own folly follow those who remain in isolation for simply not following simple instructions.
And for goodness sakes, if you experience COVID-19 like symptoms, take yourself to a screening clinic closest to you.
Here are the symptoms again in case you missed them:
■ Dry Cough
■ Runny nose, nasal congestion, sneezing
■ Fatigue/extreme tiredness
■ Headache
■ Aches and pain
■ Sore throat
■ Fever
■ Diarrhea
■ Red eyes (conjunctivitis)
■ Loss of taste or smell
■ A rash on the skin
Whether you live outside of the containment zones, in Vanua Levu or the outer islands – you can never be too careful of this deadly COVID-19 Delta Variant virus. No place outside of your home is safe.
Follow the COVID-safe protocols.
Pull up your sleeve and get the jab. It can save you and your family from both medical and economic implications.
