Teachers issue study packages

Thousands of parents turned up to their children’s respective schools around the country to collect students weekly home study packages under strict COVID 19 guidelines.

Teachers at Vashist Muni College in Navua wore full protective equipment as they assisted hundreds of parents with students weekly printed worksheets on Monday.

Minister for Education, Heritage and Arts Rosy Akbar reminded all School Heads and teachers to follow the directives of the Ministry and work in line with Circular 27, 2021 to continue assisting students during the school closure.

The circular sent out to all school heads clearly stipulated that all COVID-19 Safety Protocols must be in place during the preparatio­n and collection of materials.

Parent Litia Matanisiga of Tadevu settlement, Navua while collecting the worksheets thanked the teachers for assisting children with home study materials during this difficult times.

“I could not access the worksheets as I do not have viber or online accessibil­ity so I only used the worksheets printed in the Fiji Sun newspaper,” Mrs Matanisiga said.

Ministry of Education has reminded parents and guardians that they can only collect printouts from the respective schools if prior arrangemen­ts have been made with school heads and teachers.

Printed weekly home study packages are only available for parents and guardians who are unable to access it online and those that make prior arrangemen­ts for collection.

These packages will be available on a weekly basis and parents should encourage children to attempt the accompanyi­ng activity sheets.
