‘Chocolate Cakes are Best Sellers’

hocolate flavored cakes are amongst the best-selling cakes made at Rosy Hearts as chocolate are the old-time favorites and are profitable.

Knowing how popular chocolates are, the cake business has converted some of its cake item into chocolate cakes which customers enjoyed.

Chocolate cake varieties

Operations manager Alvin Nair said the demand for chocolates from customers has also influenced the variety of chocolate cakes.

“Chocolate cakes are the bestsellin­g for the business, if we did not have any chocolate flavored cakes then we would be losing out of business because there is a demand.

“We have chocolate cakes with chocolate icing, chocolate designing on the cakes, and chocolate frostings amongst other items.

“We also have chocolate cakes which are more like compound chocolate and less compound chocolate where most of them come in the form of powder like cocoa which we use to make chocolate cake.

cakes which are a bit melted which we use for chocolate garnish, as well for chocolate design works,” said Mr Nair.

Mr Nair said Rosy Hearts also use popular chocolate brands like Cadbury chocolates for toppings and designing.

He said black forest chocolate cake is a popular seller and uses chocolate creams to create an attractive look to the cake.

While there is a restrictio­ns on holding functions, Mr Nair said orders for chocolate cakes continue as families mark a special occasion within their homes.

“For the Suva branch make about 100 chocolate cakes and we can go further than that depending on the number of orders we get. But we also have some on shelf in the shop so that any pickup on arrival.

“Chocolate cakes are a daily seller whether it is a pre-order or pick up on arrival,” he said.

Special occassions

Rosy Hearts started the business in 1999 and has since then catered to the caking needs of families during special occasions.

He said customers do enjoy the standard chocolate cakes but when it comes to the design, it also depends on how much the customer wants to spend on the cake.

“Customer behavior during this pandemic has changed, people at home or being isolated, they would still order for chocolate cake because it sort of brings them comfort during this pandemic,” said Mr Nair.

Rosy Hearts currently has two bakers at its Labasa branch, two in Nadi and four at Suva’s Centrepoin­t. At the moment, its Centrepoin­t and Damodar City branch are temporaril­y closed as one of its staff was tested positive for COVID-19.
