‘Dark chocolates are amongst local favourites’

Vegetable cooking chocolates are slowly becoming a favorite amongst customers during this pandemic as people have been slowly making their own home-based confection­aries.

While COVID safety measures still in place, forcing people to work from home, it has also opened opportunit­ies to make home-based confection­aries.

Dark chocolates

Local chocolate manufactur­er Tomohito Zukoshi said 60 per cent of vegan cooking chocolates sales went up during this pandemic.

“During the pandemic, there are so many uncertaint­ies surroundin­g our daily life and dark chocolate should have been helping mentally and physically.

“It has been proven that the dark chocolate diminish appetite and allow Serotonin to circulate in your brain for anti-depressant effect.

“It should have made some relieve to those people,” said Mr Zukoshi.

As today marks World Chocolate

Day, Mr Zukoshi plans to indulge into some high-quality cacao with coconut honey ganache.

He said chocolates were his alltime favorite and since it was World Chocolate Day, would add some mocha powder on top his favorite cacao chocolates.

“It is important time I believe for families to get together or online to drink a cup of nice hot chocolate especially when the night getting colder. Let us realize the new era for dark chocolate to be the medicine for our happiness!

Local chocolate industry

Mr Zukoshi said the local chocolate industry since the start of the pandemic, his local chocolate business has decided to continue purchasing cocoa beans from local farmers.

“Just like all other small businesses, more time in home means more time to think new product developmen­ts and discoverie­s especially so with unlimited chocolates right in front. We have been developing some very secret chocolate drinks with other companies,” he said.
