Graduates to Face Industry Changes During Pandemic
Fiji National University’s (FNU) School of Hospitality and Tourism is encouraging its students to do their own entrepreneurial activities.
As the tourism is gratetly impacted by COVID, it also paves a way to entrepreneurship.
Some entrepreneurial activities can include online food selling and cooking activities or selling pastries.
As some hotels slowly reopened in certain areas in Fiji with skeleton staff management, it is also an opportunity for graduates to learn from the industry.
While the tourism sector is one that was greatly hit by the current pandemic, it is one of the major contributors to Fiji’s economy.
FNU’s Hospitality and Tourism studies has undergone a lot of changes as well.
Most of its key focus areas in the programme are offered online due to the current pandemic.
The Hospitality and Tourism programme are with current market demand which has helped its students continue to pursues their studies in hospitality and tourism.
The programme teaches key skills such as self-catering, bartender and server, reservationist, and guestroom attendant.
These are just a few of several key skills that the programme offers.
The demand from the tourism industry locally and inernationally, has made an impact on the programme over the last three years.
Hence all Hospitality and Tourism programmes are tailormade to suit the industry needs.
