Tui Macuata Ratu Wiliame Katonivere while praising the Northerners said it was a combined effort of the government officials in the North, traditional and religious leaders in encouraging communities to get vaccinated.
“People have taken heed of the advice and the awareness by the government team (provincial office working with MOH) that we’re trying to ensure that
COVID does not reach Macuata and the whole of Vanua Levu for that matter,” Ratu Wiliame said.
“It is a good indication from the people as we value life and they have willingly made the decision to be vaccinated.
“It is also encouraging to see that an honourable member of assisting the vaccination team in the rural communitiesthis is a big boost for the people.
“At the same time people living in communities and settlements at the grassroots level need to understand that - the world is changing.
“Business people are cautious and have their precautionary measures in place to prevent the virus from entering the premises and prefer vaccination cards at the entrance- That’s the reality now that we have to face.
“To make life easier living in the communities- get the jab, that’s the only way you can enjoy life and having access to goods and services rather than facing hardships.
“We have done our part but it’s up to the individual in making that decision,”he said.
Ratu Wiliame acknowledged the religious and traditional leaders for encouraging everyone in getting vaccinated.
