Regional students help Fiji by getting fully vaccinated
I feel that vaccination is the only way forward and Fiji is not only a country we live in now but it is home to many of us who have left our families behind to accomplish our dreams so we want to help protect the nation.
Not only is Fiji providing a place for us to pursue our education but it is our home and we want to help protect it.
These were the wise words of the University of Fiji medical student, Camilla Grossmith while speaking to the Fiji Sun after receiving her second shot of the COVID-19 vaccine at Natabua High School in Lautoka.
Solomon Islands
The 27-year-old is originally from the Western Province in the Solomon Islands and has made Fiji her home for the last four years while pursuing her studies in medicine at the university’s Umanand Prasad School of Medicine (UPSM).
She said the motive behind getting vaccinated was to be safe and to help protect the lives of those around her.
“Being vaccinated is to keep us safe, keep our friends safe, our neighbors and those we associate with,” she said.
“I feel that vaccination is the only way forward and Fiji is not only a country we live in now but it is home to many of us who have left our families behind to accomplish our dreams so we want to help protect the nation.”
Fighting the virus
She said getting vaccinated showed the responsibility of an individual towards fighting the deadly virus.
“The fight starts with us by providing a safe space to study so that we could also return to our families,” she said.
Vanuatu
Another University of Fiji student, Philia Vira, originally from Santo/ Ambae in Vanuatu advised Fijians to rethink about protecting themselves and their families during this time.
“Now is also the time to build your relationship with God,” added the 25-year-old.
