It’s Do or Die On Day 1: Fuli
Team Fiji women’s rugby 7s coach, Saiasi Fuli is optimistic that his side would deliver a positive result in their opening matches of the Olympic Games on July 29.
The Fijians are in Pool B along with France, Canada and Brazil. The team are yet to fly to the Game Village in Tokyo.
“We are fine with our camp base here in Oita,” Fuli said.
“We have endured some challenging times but we have continued to move forward with a positive mindset.
“We haven’t seen our families for quite a
long time now so any restricted training environment or camp is just another test. I’ve moulded our team to stay composed in these difficult times.
“The past few days we have narrowed down our focus on mapping our battle plan against our pool opponents.
“We face the might of France and Canada on Day 1 and we will treat it as an Olympic final. It’s do or die.
“We need to be clinical and be top of our game. Nothing is impossible.”
The Olympic Games venue will not be open to spectators. However, Fuli said doing their job is top of the agenda.
“Yes, we will play in an empty stadium but fans and supporters will be watching on
TV,” he said.
“What matters the most is our execution on the day and our job is to deliver a positive result that is nothing g else but a win.”
