Tawake Promoted as Commodore, Deputy RFMF Commander
Commodore Tawake recently graduated from the Australia War College and is an executive Diploma graduate in Strategic and Defence Studies from the Pertahanan National University in Malaysia.
The Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) has promoted Captain (Navy) Humphrey Tawake to the rank of Commodore.
The 50-year-old and father of four children was recently appointed as Deputy Commander for the RFMF.
He hails from the village of Mualevu, Vanuabalavu in Lau, and was enlisted into the RFMF on June 19, 1990. He was commissioned as an Ensign on July 1, 1992. Commodore Tawake recently graduated from the Australia War College and is an executive Diploma graduate in Strategic and Defence
Studies from the Pertahanan National University in Malaysia.
He is an alumnus of the prestigious Armed Forces Staff College in Malaysia and has attended courses conducted by the Armed Forces of the United Kingdom, Hawaii, Malaysia, and Australia.
He is also an alumnus of the
Britannia Royal Naval College in the UK and had represented Fiji at the ninth MSC Working Group Conference in Brisbane, Australia.
Commodore Tawake has held various appointments with the RFMF units with the Fiji Navy, headquarters RFMF, and the Ministry of Home Affairs and has recently been appointed Commander Fiji Navy.
He has served on several tours of duty with various peacekeeping missions in the Multinational Forces and Observers in Egypt, United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq, United Nations Missions in East Timor, and the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force in Syria.
In addition to his peacekeeping medals, Commodore Tawake is also decorated with the General Service Medal and the Fiji Meritorious Service Decoration. com.fj
