Our We Try Harder Team Delivers
Here’s an easy quiz question, readers. Which newspaper has consistently delivered to all our main urban areas throuhout the pandemic? The easy and only answer is Fiji Sun.
Whether it’s always getting into Lautoka during the early lockdowns, never stopping deliveries to the North or reaching Levuka consistently.
Fiji Sun has continuously made sure to reach our readers despite any challenges or hurdles which come our way.
How do we do it?
Circulation Manager Soko Vakacegu says: “It’s very simple. We try harder. We know there are people on places like Vanua Levu, Taveuni and Ovalau who rely on the Fiji Sun. They look forwared to their newspaper.
“A lot of people still prefer the print newspaper. Especially in places where connectivity is difficult and it’s not possible to get our e-edition.
“We know there are advertisers like MH/MaxVal-u who have supermarkets in Labasa, Savusavu, Somosomo and Levuka. They rely on us to reach their customers there and put their advertisement in people’s hands.
“Our team go to extraordinary lengths to make this happen.”
Ms Vakacegu herself leads by example. She regularly drives papers from Suva to Natovi herself with members of her team to load them on the overnight ferries across to Nabouwalu.
From Nabouwalu they are distributed along the highway, through Seaqaqa and up to Labasa. Papers for Savusavu and Taveuni are picked up at the Saivou junction. They are driven through the hills to Savusavu.
Papers for Taveuni are then taken down for the ferry across Somosomo Strait. On Taveuni another vehicle waits to distribute them in Somosomo and around the island.
Ms Vakacegu paid tribute to all the people who helped make this possible, especially Health and Police officers, and ferry operators and their crews.
She said as borders reopen, the Fiji Sun will continue its efforts to reach its readers to help them stay updated on issues that matters to them. And to provide advertisers a reliable platform to reach customers.
