Who drafted Ratu Epenisa’s ‘letter of resignatio­n’?

Three of the five female SODELPA Members of Parliament have denied any involvemen­t in drafting the “letter of resignatio­n” for SODELPA president Ratu Epenisa Cakobau.

They are Tanya Waqanika, Salote Radrodro and Adi Litia Qionibarav­i. Ro Teimumu Kepa said “no comment”. By the process of eliminatio­n that leaves her and the fifth MP, Opposition Whip Lynda Tabuya as the remaining suspects.

All efforts to try to reach Ms Tabuya to comment failed, including by email, phone and even knocking at the gate of her Suva Point home.

It has been establishe­d that Ratu Epenisa was pressured into signing the letter because he wasn’t vaccinated. He was waiting for his GP’s clearance to get vaccinated because of an underlying medical condition It is understood that the letter was drafted by one of the female SODELPA MPs and he signed it because he thought it was the right thing to do.

He changed his mind after party leader Viliame Gavoka and general secretary Lenaitasi Duru spoke to him.

The “letter” was circulated online to a selected group. People who have sighted the letter online say it appeared briefly and disappeare­d again giving them little chance of copying the letter.

It is understood that a female Opposition MP had spoken to Ratu Epenisa that because he had not been vaccinated he could not continue as president as he would not be able to access premises where the offices were located.

Ms Waqanika, Mrs Radrodro and Adi Litia said they had nothing to do with the “letter”.

Ms Waqanika said she would not do such a thing.

Ms Radrodro said she had no idea about the letter

Adi Litia said she had nothing to do with the letter.

Ro Teimumu said she would not be commenting on the issue.
