A STRONG WIND WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE FOR LAND AREAS OF NORTHERN LAU, NORTHEASTERN AND SOUTHERN VANUA LEVU, LOMAIVITI GROUP, NORTHERN VITI LEVU AND YASAWA GROUP.
Situation: A trough of low pressure gradually approaches the group from the West. It is expected to affect Fiji from today.
Meanwhile, a high pressure system to the far southwest of Fiji directs a fresh to strong southeast wind flow over the group. Forecast to midnight tonight for the Fiji Group: Expect strong southeast winds averaging to 50 km/hr and gusting to 55 km/hr over the northern Lau group, northeastern and southern Vanua Levu, Lomaiviti group, northern Viti Levu and Yasawa Group.
Elsewhere, moderate to fresh east to southeast winds, gusty at times. Tomorrow: Cloudy periods with some showers and isolated thunderstorms especially in the afternoon or evening over most places. Showers becoming frequent and heavy later in the evening. Isolated heavy falls possible.
Rough to very rough seas.
