Saneem: Voter Registration Services to Expand to Business Houses
The Fijian Elections Office (FEO) will be expanding the Voter Registration programme directly to all business houses. This was after Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem announced the opening of an appointment portal that all business houses could register their interest, should they wish to have a voter registration team to provide voter registration services in their respective offices for its staff.
Mr Saneem said the voter registration team would be able to facilitate the registration of new voters and the upgrade of the voter identification cards in respective offices without its staff members having to queue up in voter service centres. For business houses to be able to book an appointment date and time for their staff, a business house registration portal is available on the Fijian Elections Office (www.feo.org.fj) website where all necessary information should be filled in.
“The Fijian Elections Office has now completed the online registration platform for business houses so that they can make appointments for our Voter Registration Teams to directly visit their place of business and provide services to the staff that are present in their places of businesses,” Mr Saneem said.
“From October 20, business houses can choose and make an appointment for our team to visit them directly and provide voter services.
“The option will be for a morning session or an afternoon session or it may be a whole day session depending on the number of staff at those places.”
He said considering that the green voter card has expired, the Fijian Elections Office has created more avenues for people to register and update their details to the blue coloured voter card.
“It is hoped that through the introduction of the business house visits programme, those who are in full time employment are currently unable to join the queues at any of the Voter Service Centre (VSC) can take advantage of these services in the comfort of their office environment,” Mr Saneem said.
“The FEO had conducted a similar exercise between 2017 and 2018 and we had covered 56 business houses and we engaged 4569 voters.”
