Singing for the Fiji nation is a blessing for the Pastors Sanjeev and Shalini Verma. The story behind a Christian Hindi song titled, “Blessing Fiji” has touched so many hearts in not just Fiji, but in many overseas countries.

This song was recorded and written in 2010, then the couple composed a revised version of the same song last year, adding a iTaukei and Hindi musical beat in the introduction of the song and also features the national anthem of Fiji.

Mr Verma said this song was shot and recorded in Veiseisei Village in Lautoka.

He said they had a vision to write a song based on Fiji about how blessed we are in this land.

“Either its sports or racial harmony, Fiji is considered as a nation with diversity. People of many races and beliefs reside here, together as one,” he said.

“For tourists, we are tagged as the number one nation, people with beautiful smiles. A dot of a nation in the world map, yet reaching the heights of gold medal in Olympics,” Mr Verma said.

Mr Verma and his wife Shalini Verma are pastors of Lautoka International Church of God of Prophecy based in Saweni.

He said they had been listening to many songs based on Fiji composed by well-known composers in English and iTaukei and that inspired him and his wife to compose one song in Hindi as well.

“Shalini has written this song with great compassion. I have composed the music, mixed and recorded in our studio, our very own PsalmStudio

Music in Lautoka,” he added.

“We want our nation to hear our version as well. We all have hidden talents in us, you just have to find that artist in you.”

He added their song was usually played on Radio Naya Jiwan in Suva. The radio station played it during their fun drive and also on every Fiji Day.

He said he was blessed to be born in such a beautiful nation where people believed in equality and peace.

“Celebrating Fiji Day is a very special ocassion for us and our church members. In our church, we teach everyone about love and unity,” he said. We have planned to do a lovo feast in church to mark this day.”
